The admission process for the Government Arts College (Autonomous), Chitradurga has transitioned to a digital-first model in line with Karnataka's state education policies. For the 2026-27 academic session, all undergraduate and postgraduate admissions are managed centrally.
Admissions are conducted through the Unified University College Management System (UUCMS). You do not typically apply through the college website directly, but rather through this state-wide portal.
Registration: New candidates must register on the UUCMS Portal using their Aadhaar details.
Academic Bank of Credits (ABC): It is now mandatory to have an ABC ID (created via DigiLocker) to link your academic credits.
College Selection: Once your profile is created, you search for "Government Arts College Chitradurga" and select your preferred course combinations (e.g., B.A. in History, Economics, Political Science).
Merit-Based: Admission is strictly based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination (Class 12/PUC for UG and Degree marks for PG).
Reservation: As a government institution, it strictly follows the Karnataka State Government reservation policy for SC, ST, OBC (Category I, IIA, IIB, IIIA, IIIB), and PwD candidates.
Counselling: After applications close, the college releases a merit list. Shortlisted candidates are invited for physical document verification at the campus.
You will need to upload digital copies (usually under 200kb) and carry the originals for verification:
S.S.L.C. (10th) Marks Card
P.U.C. (12th) Marks Card (or equivalent)
Transfer Certificate (TC) from the previous institution
Caste and Income Certificate (valid RD number is required for fee concessions)
Aadhaar Card
Recent Passport Size Photographs
Migration Certificate (only for students coming from outside Karnataka or other boards)
Nominal Fees: Since it is a government college, the fees are very low compared to private institutions.
Digital Payment: Most fees are now paid online through the UUCMS portal after your seat is confirmed during the counselling session.
Concessions: Students from SC/ST and certain income categories often receive full or partial fee waivers as per government norms.
Application Starts: Usually in May/June, immediately after the announcement of Karnataka 2nd PUC results.
Merit List Announcement: Mid-June.
Commencement of Classes: July/August.
