Gangadhar Meher University Scholarships & Eligibility

Gangadhar Meher University (GMU), as a state-funded institution, offers a wide range of scholarships aimed at reducing the financial burden on students. These are primarily managed through the Odisha State Scholarship Portal and the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).

State Government Scholarships (Odisha)

These are the most common scholarships applied for by GMU students, often covering a significant portion of the academic fees.

PRERANA (Post-Matric Scholarship):

Target: Specifically for SC, ST, OBC, and SEBC students.
Eligibility: Domiciles of Odisha with a family income below Rs.2,50,000 (for SC/ST) or Rs.1,50,000 (for OBC/SEBC).
Benefits: Covers tuition fees and provides a monthly maintenance allowance.

e-Medhabruti (Merit Scholarship):

Target: Meritorious students in UG, PG, and Professional courses (BBA/BCA/MBA).
Criteria: Must have secured at least 60% marks in the previous qualifying exam.
Income Limit: Annual family income must not exceed Rs.6,00,000.

NUA-O Scholarship:

Target: A newer state initiative focusing on providing financial assistance specifically to UG and PG students in state universities to promote higher education.
Benefit: Usually provides a fixed annual stipend (often around Rs. 9,000 to Rs. 10,000) for male and female students, with a slightly higher amount for female students.

Kalia Scholarship:

Target: Children of farmers (beneficiaries of the KALIA scheme) pursuing professional or technical courses.

Central Government Scholarships (National)

These are applied for via the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) and are generally open to students across India.

Post-Matric Scholarship for Minorities: For students belonging to Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, or Parsi communities.
Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships: For college and university students who are in the top 20th percentile of their respective Class 12 boards.
NMMSS (National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship): For students who have been awardees since Class 8 and maintain at least 60% marks in higher classes.

Institutional & Specialized Fellowships

GMU also facilitates specific research-oriented and special-category aids:

UGC Fellowships: Support for Ph.D. scholars including JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) and NFSC/NFST (National Fellowships for SC/ST).
ADIP Scheme: Provides free aids, appliances, or assistive devices for PwD (Persons with Disabilities) students.
