Girraj Government College, located in Nizamabad, Telangana, was established in 1956 under private management in the premises of Quilla. It was named after Sri Girrajmalji Agarwal, who generously donated ?50,001 for its establishment. The college was taken over by the Government of Andhra Pradesh in 1960 and shifted to its current 27.3-acre campus in 1968. Initially affiliated with Osmania University, it has been affiliated with Telangana University since 2008.

Girraj Government College was granted autonomous status in the academic year 2004-2005, which has been extended up to 2022 due to its commitment to quality in teaching and evaluation processes. It has been reaccredited with a 'B' grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
