Mancherial town is the headquarters of Mancherial district of the Indian state of Telangana located on the north banks of the Godavari River. It is a commercial hub catering to the coal belt of Singareni collieries.
Mancherial is located on the longest railway line, the Grand Trunk line (New Delhi-Chennai) with more than 20 trains halting at Mancherial Railway Station with excellent connectivity to most major cities and towns in India.
It is located about 244 kilometers from Telangana state capital, Hyderabad. The Hyderabad-Karimnagar-Ramagundam Road passes through Mancherial, which is the shortest route to reach Hyderabad via Karimnagar and Siddipet.

Government Medical College, Mancherial is one of the eight new medical colleges announced and sanctioned by the Government of Telangana in June 2021.

Government General Hospital, Mancherial is the sole Government Hospital in Mancherial town with a capacity of more than 350 beds. This hospital caters to the healthcare needs of the rural and tribal population of towns and villages in and around Mancherial district (Bellampally, Mandamarri, Chennur, Naspur, Luxettipet, Sirpur-Kagaznagar), Adilabad district (Asifabad) and from the neighboring state of Maharashtra like Ballarshah etc.
It has an administrative block, an outpatient block with myriad departments of all broad specialties, 24 hours Accident and Emergency department and a Pharmacy.
It is affiliated with the[INDIAN RED CROSS society- ask sir whether to be added/no]with a Thalassemia Transfusion Centre located within the hospital premises.
It also coordinates with health outreach centers and Primary Health Centers located at Naspur, Jaipur and Srirampur.
