Government College of Commerce and Economics, Borda Margao Goa Scholarships & Eligibility

Students at the Autonomous College of Multidisciplinary Studies and Research (ACMSR)—formerly Government College of Commerce and Economics, Borda-Margao—have access to various financial aid schemes provided by the Government of Goa and the Government of India.

Applications for the 2026-27 cycle are primarily managed through the Chief Minister’s (CM) Scholarship Portal and the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).

  1. State Government Schemes (Goa DHE)

These are the most common scholarships for local residents.

  • Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye Bursary Scheme: Coverage: Provides financial assistance to students whose annual family income is less than Rs.5.0 Lakh.
    • Eligibility: Must be a resident of Goa and enrolled in a degree program.
  • Gagan Bharari Shiksha Yojana (SC/ST):  Benefits: Additional maintenance and disability allowances (ranging from Rs. 750 to Rs.1,500 per month) to supplement central scholarships.
  • Merit-Based Award (SC/ST/OBC):  Eligibility: For high-achieving students from reserved categories.
    • Awards: Financial grants based on percentage (e.g., up to Rs. 18,000 for 75% and above in HSSC).
  • Rajiv Gandhi Shiksha Sahayya Yojana:  Target: Economically Backward Class (EBC) students.
    • Criteria: Family income below Rs.40,000 p.a. and minimum 45% marks in the qualifying exam.
  1. Central Government Schemes (via NSP)

Students can apply for these national-level scholarships through the National Scholarship Portal.

Post-Matric Scholarship for SC/ST/OBC: Covers tuition fees and provides a monthly maintenance allowance for eligible students.

  • Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships (College & University): For students who rank in the top 20th percentile of their respective board exams.
  • Merit-cum-Means Scholarship: Specifically for students from minority communities (Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, and Parsi).
  1. Institutional Support & Fees Waivers

  • Fee Waiver for SC/ST Students: Tuition, library, and laboratory fees are waived off for eligible SC/ST students as per government directives.
  • Fee Waiver for Orphans: The college provides full tuition fee waivers for orphaned students.
  • Students’ Aid Fund: A college-level fund that renders financial assistance (approx. Rs.1,500 p.a.) to students with family income below Rs.1.0 Lakh to help with books or exam fees.
