As a state government institution, the Government College of Engineering (GCE), Bargur, offers a robust range of financial aid options. These scholarships are designed to ensure that technical education remains accessible regardless of a student's economic or social background.

 Below is the updated scholarship guide for the 2026 academic year:

1. Major State Government Schemes

These are the most common scholarships and waivers applied for by students at GCE Bargur:

  • 7.5% Horizontal Reservation Scholarship: This is a flagship scheme for students who studied in Tamil Nadu Government Schools from grades 6 to 12. Eligible students receive a full waiver covering tuition fees, hostel fees, and mess charges. 

  • First Graduate Tuition Fee Waiver: If you are the first person in your family to pursue a degree, the Tamil Nadu government provides a tuition fee concession.

    • Benefit: Approximately Rs.2,000–Rs.2,500 (the entire tuition fee portion) is waived annually.

  • BC/MBC/DNC Scholarship:  Eligibility: For BC students, parental income must be below Rs.1,00,000 (and must be a first graduate). For MBC/DNC students, there is often no income limit for certain fee reimbursements.

2. Community-Based Financial Aid (Post-Matric)

The Post-Matric Scholarship (PMS) is the primary support system for SC, ST, and SCC (Scheduled Caste Converted to Christianity) students.

3. Central & Special Scholarships

GCE Bargur students are also eligible for various national and merit-based awards:

  • AICTE Pragati & Saksham:  Pragati: For meritorious girl students (up to Rs.50,000 per year).

    • Saksham: For specially-abled students (up to Rs.50,000 per year).

  • National Scholarship Portal (NSP): Includes Central Sector Schemes for college and university students based on high performance in 12th-grade board exams. 

  • Tamil Nadu PG Scholarship: For postgraduate (M.E.) students, a stipend of Rs.6,000 per month is awarded to the top TANCET/CEETA-PG scorers admitted to government colleges.
