Hindustan Institute of Technology Application/Admission Process

The admission process for Hindusthan Institute of Technology (HITECH), Coimbatore, primarily follows the centralized counseling systems of Tamil Nadu, supplemented by a direct application option for specific quotas.

1. Undergraduate Programs (B.E. / B.Tech)

Admission is based on 10+2 merit through the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) process. There is no separate entrance exam for general counseling.

  • Eligibility: Minimum 45% aggregate (40% for reserved categories) in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM). 

  • The Process:

    1. Online Registration: Candidates must register at the official TNEA portal.

    2. Certificate Verification: Upload documents online or visit designated TNEA Facilitation Centres (TFC). 

    3. Rank List: A merit list is released based on PCM marks (scaled to 200).

    4. Counseling: Based on rank, students participate in online choice filling to select HITECH (Counselling Code: 2708).

    5. Seat Allotment: Allotment is issued based on rank, community reservation, and choice preference.

2. Postgraduate Programs (MBA / MCA / M.E.)

Admission is primarily through the TANCET (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test) conducted by Anna University.

  • Eligibility: A recognized Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks (45% for reserved categories). 

  • The Process:

    1. Entrance Exam: Appear for the TANCET exam (usually held in March/May). 

    2. TANCA Counseling: After results, apply for the Common Admissions (TANCA) for seat allotment.

    3. Direct Admission: For M.E. programs, candidates with a valid GATE score are often given preference and exempted from certain entrance requirements.

4. Required Documents for Admission

 Upon selection, candidates must provide the following:

  • Class 10th & 12th Mark Sheets. 

  • Transfer Certificate (TC) & Conduct Certificate.

  • Community Certificate (for reservation benefits). 

  • TNEA/TANCET  Allotment Order & Scorecard.

  • Migration Certificate (for Other State candidates).

  • Recent Passport-size Photographs
