Indian Institute of Technology Ropar – Scholarships

The Indian Institute of Technology Ropar offers various scholarships and financial assistance to its students, including merit-based, means-based, and scholarships for specific categories such as SC/ST students.

Following is the list of some of the scholarships that are available at IIT Ropar.

• Institute Merit-cum-Means (MCM) Scholarships: This is awarded to 25% of UG students pursuing Engineering & Technology. An amount of INR 1000 is provided to these students (General) per month. It is renewed every year based on the academic performances. A CGPA of 6.0 or above should be maintained by the students for availing this scholarship. For First year students, All India Rank (AIR) and JEE scores are also important.

• Institute Merit Prizes and Certificates: It is awarded to top 7% of students with a CGPA/SGPA of 8.5 or more are eligible. An amount of INR 2,500 is given to the students. The merit list will be made from 2^nd to 5^th year based on the academic performances. Final year students are exempted from having less than 18 credits under consideration are not eligible. In case there are any chances of having a tie between two students the award will be given to the one who’s CGPA is higher.

• Institute Free Studentship: Only 10% of students are provided this scholarship based on means alone. All the recipients are exempted from paying tuition fees. The student should have a CGPA of 6.0 or more and the number of credits earned should not be less than 20.

• Scholarship Provision for Students of SC/ST Category: All the students from SC/ST categories are exempted from paying tuition fees irrespective of their family income. Students are provided with INR 300 per month and are also given pocket allowance of INR 250 per month. Students can also opt for free mess facility. If an SC/ST student fails in the exam for the first time, they may be allowed to renew the award for up to 5 years.

• Post-Metric Scholarship: This scholarship is provided to all the SC/ST candidates from the State Government.

• Top Class Education Scholarship for SC/ST Students: Students can opt for this scholarship which is provided by the Government of India by visiting the official website – https://scholarships.gov.in/

• Scholarship for B. Tech – M. Tech Dual Degree: Students pursuing B. Tech, M. Tech, and Dual degree programs having a good academic performances are provided with this scholarships in the final year.

• Other Scholarships: There are other scholarships that are provided by the NGO’s and other external/private agencies.
