The history of the Indira Gandhi Technological and Medical Sciences University (IGTAMSU) may be traced from the year 2002 when the great institution builder and thinker Dr. Priya Ranjan Trivedi, President, World Institution Building Programme (WIBP) was motivated and encouraged by the then Prime Minister Hon'ble Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the year 2002 for selecting the State of Arunachal Pradesh for establishing a State level University for taking care of the tertiary education needs of the North-Eastern States in general and of Arunachal Pradesh in particular.
We are pleased to invite the prospective teachers and the students at Indira Gandhi Technological and Medical Sciences University, Ziro, Arunachal Pradesh with a view to acquiring expert skills in the new and emerging fields and for participating in the nation building process with a neological as well as a neocratic approach to bringing our country on the world map by also developing appropriate technologies for solving the global problems including peacelessness, poverty, unemployment, pollution etc. through rural as well as urban entrepreneurship by researching on ecology, environment, disaster management, sustainable development, peace studies, conflict resolution, technological and medical sciences, nursing, geriatric care, intellectual property rights, human rights, remote sensing, ecotourism, mental health, futurology, physiognomy, global warming reduction, sustainable agriculture, organic farming, hotel management, catering and applied nutrition, yoga, naturopathy,good governance, tribal development, green business, green technology, biotechnology, nanotechnology, vastu science, green buildings, hospital administration, medicinal plants, mental health, public health, psychotherapy, library and information sciences, broadcast journalism, public relations etc.
Created under the provisions of the Indira Gandhi Technological and Medical Sciences University Act 2012 (Act 6 of 2012) of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh, this university is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. The School of Nursing established by the University is also recognised by the Indian Nursing Council.
