Institute of Health Sciences Application/Admission Process

The admission process for the Institute of Health Sciences (IHS), Bhubaneswar, is specialized to ensure students possess the necessary aptitude for rehabilitation and allied health professions. As an autonomous institution, it follows a multi-step selection procedure that includes both entrance tests and counseling.

1. Programs and Eligibility

  •  BASLP- 10+2 (Science) with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Math; 50% aggregate (Relaxation for SC/ST).
  •  BPT- 10+2 (Science) with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology; 50% aggregate in PCB subjects.

 

2. Selection Process (Step-by-Step)

Admissions are primarily conducted through the institute's own entrance mechanism or state-level counseling.

  • Step 1: Registration: Candidates must apply online via the IHS Official Website.

  • Step 2: Entrance Exam (IMAT): Most applicants must appear for the IHS Merit Aptitude Test (IMAT). This test evaluates basic science knowledge, general aptitude, and suitability for the rehabilitation field. 

  • Step 3: Direct/Merit Admission: For certain seats (especially for outstation students from states like Bihar or West Bengal), the institute sometimes offers direct admission based on 10+2 merit and a personal interview. 

  • Step 4: Counseling: Shortlisted candidates are called for a counseling session where they must verify their original documents and lock their seat. 

  • Step 5: OJEE Integration: As a member of the Odisha University of Health Sciences (OUHS), some seats may also be filled through the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE ) counseling process.

4. Required Documents

During the admission verification, you will need:

  • 10th and 12th Mark Sheets and Pass Certificates. 

  • Transfer Certificate (TC) and Conduct Certificate. 

  • Aadhar Card and Passport-sized photographs. 

  • Caste Certificate (if applicable for relaxation). 

  • Medical Fitness Certificate: Since these are clinical programs, a basic health clearance is often required.
