An institution with an exemplary history of 45 years of enlightenment, hard work, vision and wisdom one of the premier undergraduate college is affiliated to Sambalpur University. Since its inception on 6th September 1978 with the cherished goal of imparting quality education, the college has proved its mettle over the years.
Apart from being listed under 2F and 12(B) of the UGC Act, it has the distinction of being accredited by NAAC as a ‘B’ grade college. The College offers a wide range of courses, which promotes interdisciplinary studies in the streams of Humanities, Sciences, Commerce, and Bachelor in Business Administration.
Started with a modest strength of 300 students and 6 teachers at the Intermediate stage, it became a full-fledged degree college in 1980 having all the streams viz. Arts, Science & Commerce. Apart from the pass courses, honours courses in English, History, Political Science, Economics, Hindi, Oriya, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Anthropology, Statistics and Commerce are available. The Govt. of Orissa has given permission for opening of BBA courses under self-financing and requisite formalities have been completed to start the course from the session 2009-10.
The college has various active wings of NCC, NSS, YRC programs provides a platform for active student participation in community service and development activities.
The well-stocked Library has a book bank, an elevator for disability access and houses the ICT centre with 100 computers. The College has Seminar Rooms, well-equipped laboratories and other infrastructure to support its academic and co-curricular activities.
The college include a placement cell, students’ clubs, utility centre and a cafeteria. It has a vast playground, Gymnasium and a Basketball court. It has a very active cricket and football team which in recent time brought glory to the college.
The College has two hostels to accommodate 166 students, the 101 seater Koel Girls Hostel and the 65 seated ITDA Girls Hostel. Environment consciousness is a core agenda of the College and its campus serves as a laboratory for both observation and practice. The College has a dense green cover with beautifully manicured gardens.
