Karnataka State Open University is a distance learning university is located in Mysore, Karnataka. The educational university established in the year 1st June, 1996. Karnataka State Open University is a recognized University of Distance Education Council (DEC), New Delhi, regular member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), Delhi, permanent member of Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), London, UK, Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU), Beijing, China, and also has association with Commonwealth of Learning (COL). Karnataka State Open University is the 8th Open University to be established in India. But first time in the history of state universities, this university has not been recognized by UGC for severe irregularities. The programmes offered by KSOU, Mysore, have not been recognized by UGC. Karnataka State Open University today commands a staggering strength of over 40,000 students from all over India. It functions through 13 departments managed by 57 well-qualified faculty members, and its network of Study Centres continues to expand fast, right across the state of Karnataka. Karnataka State Open University offers courses like B.Com, BA, M.Com, MA, LLM, MBA, PGD in Commerce, Arts, Law and Management.
