Madurai Institute of Social Sciences Admissions Details

Madurai Institute of Social Sciences Application/Admission Process

The Madurai Institute of Social Sciences (MISS), established on October 2, 1969, is a premier private, autonomous research institution affiliated with Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU). Holding a prestigious NAAC B++ accreditation, MISS stands out as a pioneering institution dedicated to professional social work education, management science, and computer applications in South India.

Admissions to the 2026–2027 academic cycle at MISS are primarily merit-based for undergraduate courses, while postgraduate, research, and professional courses involve holistic evaluations combining prior academic merit and structural selection stages. The institute facilitates equal opportunity admissions for both its Government-Aided streams and its extensive Self-Financing tracks.

Admission Process

Admissions at the Madurai Institute of Social Sciences are managed systematically through a dedicated online portal via the college’s official platform (misscollege.edu.in).

  1. Digital Account Registration: Candidates must navigate to the admission portal and select "Create Account". A unique profile must be established using a valid username, operating email address, and an active mobile number to ensure real-time correspondence.

  2. Form Entry and Stream Specification: Applicants select their desired academic stream (Aided or Self-Financing) and course program category—Undergraduate (UG), Post Graduate (PG), Research Program, or PG Diploma. All structural data entries (including personal details, communication parameters, and precise Class 10th, 11th, and 12th marks) must be carefully recorded in block letters.

  3. Application Fee Remittance: Candidates must pay the prescribed application fee to the institute’s official account via net banking, UPI, or challan. A digital copy of the transaction receipt/challan must be scanned and uploaded (in JPEG/JPG format, less than 500 KB) along with standard academic files.

  4. Merit Evaluation & Institutional Stages: * Undergraduate (UG): Candidates are shortlisted directly via cumulative index calculation based on Class 12th board results.

    • Postgraduate (PG) & Research Tracks: For flagship programs like the Master of Social Work (MSW), candidates are evaluated based on their undergraduate core CGPA and must clear a mandatory Personal Interview (PI) round. During the online registration process, MSW candidates must specify their order of preference for core specializations: (1) Human Resources Management & IR, (2) Community Development, (3) Medical & Psychiatric Social Work, or (4) Family & Child Welfare.

  5. Rank List Publication & Physical Verification: Shortlisted candidates will find their names on the institutional merit lists published on the web portal and notice boards. Selected applicants must report to the campus in Madurai on the designated date alongside their parents or guardians for document verification and fee settlement to secure final enrollment.
