Manakula Vinayagar Institute of Technology (MVIT) provides several financial aid opportunities, categorized into government-sponsored schemes and institutional support.

Government Schemes

These are primarily managed through the Centralized Admission Committee (CENTAC) or state welfare departments:

  • Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Financial Assistance Scheme (PKFAS): This is a key scheme for students from the Puducherry Union Territory admitted via CENTAC. It provides a tuition fee waiver (up to Rs.25,000 per annum). Eligibility is subject to academic progress (securing 50% or more in examinations).

  • Post Matric Scholarship Scheme: Available for eligible students from SC/OBC categories.

  • PADCO Scholarship Scheme: The Puducherry Adi Dravidar Development Corporation Limited (PADCO) provides financial support and education loans specifically for Scheduled Caste students pursuing technical courses.

Institutional Scholarships & Awards

MVIT’s management offers several initiatives to recognize merit and support students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds:

  • Sri Kesavan Vidya Pariksha Yojana: Aimed at academically strong students from financially underprivileged families. To be eligible, students typically must maintain at least 75% marks in internal/model exams, have 90% attendance, no arrears, and a family income below Rs.1.5 Lakhs per annum.

  • Academic Toppers Scholarship: Cash awards provided to class toppers based on university examination results.

  • Competition Achievers Scholarship: The institute supports students participating in national-level technical competitions by covering expenses and offering cash prizes equivalent to the competition awards won.

  • Sports Scholarships: Special financial support and waivers are provided to students who excel in sports at the institutional, university, or national levels.

  • Free Ships: Need-based support for books and transport is available for students based on an assessment of their financial status and recommendation by faculty or management.
