Methodist College of Engineering & Technology (MCET) Admissions Details

Methodist College of Engineering & Technology (MCET) Application/Admission Process

Methodist College of Engineering & Technology (MCET), situated in the central Abids region of Hyderabad, Telangana, stands as a premier non-minority educational institution. Affiliated with Osmania University and accredited with a NAAC A+ Grade, the college holds UGC autonomous status. MCET delivers structured engineering and management programs designed to create industry-ready, technically proficient professionals.

The institution has opened its entry framework for the 2026–27 academic session, providing clear pathways across its undergraduate (BE), lateral entry, and postgraduate (ME and MBA) cycles.

Eligibility Criteria

The institutional entry bars strictly follow the statutory parameters mandated by the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) and Osmania University.

Undergraduate Programs (BE)

  • Four-Year Bachelor of Engineering (BE): Applicants must have successfully cleared the Intermediate Examination (10+2) conducted by the Board of Intermediate Education, Telangana, or an equivalent recognized state/central board. The qualifying track requires Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry (PCM) as optional subjects, with an aggregate minimum score of 45% for general category candidates (40% for statutory reserved categories). The minimum entry age is 16 years.
  • Three-Year BE (Lateral Entry): Open strictly to diploma holders in engineering or technology from the State Board of Technical Education and Training (SBTET) Telangana, or equivalent boards. Candidates must secure at least 45% marks (40% for reserved tracks) to transition directly into the second year of the BE program.

Postgraduate Programs (ME & MBA)

  • Master of Engineering (ME): Candidates require an integrated BE/B.Tech degree in a relevant engineering branch from an AICTE-approved institution with a baseline of 55% aggregate marks (50% for reserved candidates).
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA): Applicants must hold a recognized Bachelor's degree of minimum three years duration in any academic stream (Arts, Commerce, Science, or Management) with an aggregate minimum of 50% marks (45% for reserved categories).

The Admission Selection Process

The intake layout is divided systematically into a dual-channel structure consisting of state-centralized counselling and direct college-level entries.

Category-A Seats (Convener Quota – 70%)

The dominant majority of seats are filled through state-level computer-based tests:

  • BE Admissions: Driven purely by merit ranks scored in the TG EAPCET 2026 (formerly TS EAMCET). Eligible rank-holders must participate in online web counselling, submit preferred course options targeting MCET, lock their choices, and await state allotment.
  • Lateral Entry Seats: Allotted on a centralized ranking matrix managed through the TG ECET 2026 counseling portal.
  • Postgraduate Streams: ME allocations prioritize national GATE qualifiers, followed by ranks achieved in TG PGECET 2026. MBA allocations are processed sequentially based on TG ICET 2026

Category-B Seats (Management Quota – 30%)

The remaining minority allotment is executed directly by the MCET Institutional Admissions Board. Interested candidates download the profile application forms directly from the college portal (methodist.edu.in) or collect them from the campus office. Allotments under this track are awarded transparently based on 10+2 academic merit or equivalent performance indicators.
