Govt. Mizoram Law College stands as the sole legal institution in Mizoram, playing a crucial role in guiding local youth towards legal education. Established in 1983 as Aizawl Law College through the efforts of distinguished citizens, academics, and politicians, it began humbly with its first law class at Govt. J.L. High School on August 25, 1983. The official inauguration was conducted by Brig. T. Sailo, the then Chief Minister, on September 7, 1983. Following this, Liandingpuia Law College emerged in 1996. Women’s Hostel- Govt. Mizoram Law College boasts a well-established women's hostel, conveniently located adjacent to the college building. Established in 2010 and operational since 2016, the hostel offers basic amenities including beds with mattresses, tables, chairs, refrigerators, and Kent RO Water Purifiers.
Classrooms- The college features well-furnished classrooms equipped with essential instructional aids like whiteboards, projectors, and screens in each room to enhance communication and interaction with students, thereby facilitating classroom discussions and project presentations.
Language Laboratory- The institution also houses a well-equipped Language Laboratory, funded by Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), which provides students with interactive sessions in various languages. Since its inception, the laboratory has received an overwhelmingly positive response from the students.
Moot Court- Additionally, the Govt. Mizoram Law College Moot Court Hall is designed to resemble a courtroom, used primarily for conducting Moot Court Competitions. It serves as a practical venue for law students to hone their legal analysis, research, and writing skills—crucial for practicing attorneys. The Moot Court Hall is also utilized for hosting and adjudicating the annual Govt. Mizoram Law College Competitions.
