Taking about the campus, campus is very green and nice but it is very small around 183 acre. But in terms of beauty its good. Plants are well maintained. Talking about academics, classes are nice, new academic building is very well maintained and classes are total smart, nice interiors. Talking about professors, new professors are very helping and kind, they knows what is important in todays word, they encourage for GATE exams and other future opportunities and consider its requirement also into teaching but old teachers are not helpful and they literally dont care about students, they just come and teaches effortlessly and goes back. Talking about hostels, they are good too as compared to other colleges but jot very nice Hostels given to 1st and 2nd year are the best hostels u could get in this clg, very well designed and well facilities, but hostels for 3rd and 4th year are old and is not good at all, also they keep 3 persons in a very small room in 3rd and 4th year. In all 4 years they never provide rooms to single person or double person, always there are 3 or 4 persons in each room throughout the college life. Talking about mess food, to be honest its worst, i don't know why, maybe its bengal or any other reason but food is worst, if you wish to vomit daily you can just by visiting mess and eating 1st bite, its very easy to vomit there. But if you are very courageous then yes you can at least eat 2-3 roti each time, breakfast is the best out of 3 meals provided, and tbh its decent also. I don't know how they manage to change the taste of food in different meals, they are certified magicians who can cook good breakfast but worst lunch and dinner in the world. Talking about overall facilities, its good college and you can come here. For sports not very much opportunities but ya very less and decent opportunity are there. Last and most importantly placement, ya its somehow less as compared to other top 6 NITs, but its really good here Almost every person gets placed of u study decently here. For civil and biotechnology its somehow hard to get placed but still you can if you study bare minimum. Overall a good college but there is huge scope to improve. If college rank in NITs is 8th then plases consider it at 11th or 12th and then come accordingly.

NIT Durgapur offers a robust academic environment with a well-structured curriculum. The faculty members are knowledgeable and have a strong academic background. The institute is known for its emphasis on research, especially in fields like engineering, computer science, and technology. Students are encouraged to engage in hands-on projects and internships that align with industry standards, preparing them well for their careers. Infrastructure: 4.0/5 The campus is spacious with state-of-the-art facilities, including modern classrooms, well-equipped labs, and research centers. The library is well-stocked with books and digital resources. The hostels, though functional, could be more modern, with some students reporting issues regarding maintenance and cleanliness. Overall, the infrastructure is adequate, but there’s room for improvement in certain areas, especially with regard to hostel facilities. Placements: 4.3/5 NIT Durgapur has a strong track record of campus placements. Top tech companies like Microsoft, Google, and Oracle recruit students, with competitive salaries offered to graduates. The placement cell is active and provides various training sessions to prepare students for interviews. However, students in certain non-technical branches might find placement opportunities slightly more limited. Extracurricular Activities: 4.0/5 The institute promotes a healthy balance between academics and extracurricular activities. There are various student-run clubs, events, and fests (like Spring Fest and NITD Alumni Meet) that cater to different interests, from cultural to technical and sports. However, the overall support for startups or innovation hubs could be better, especially considering the potential of a growing student base. Campus Life: 4.2/5 The campus has a vibrant social scene with diverse student groups and active participation in events. The surrounding city of Durgapur offers a peaceful atmosphere, which is conducive to academic growth, but students looking for a bustling urban environment may find it a bit quiet. The food in the mess and canteens is decent, though some students feel there could be more variety. Faculty: 4.4/5 The faculty at NIT Durgapur is highly qualified and experienced. Many professors hold PhDs and have strong industry connections. The teaching style is generally student-centric, with an emphasis on practical learning. However, as with many institutions, the teaching quality can vary from department to department. Student Support and Facilities: 3.8/5 The student support system is well-established, offering counseling services, career guidance, and academic assistance. However, there could be more attention given to mental health and well-being, particularly given the pressures faced by students. Wi-Fi and internet connectivity on campus are decent but could be improved during peak usage times. Final Thoughts Overall, NIT Durgapur offers a solid academic and campus experience, making it a good choice for students pursuing a career in engineering. While there are a few areas that can be improved (like hostel facilities and extracurricular innovation), the strengths in academics, research opportunities, and placements make it a well-rounded institution. If you're looking for a reputed engineering college with a strong technical focus, NIT Durgapur is definitely worth considering
