Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT), Amethi (Jais campus), admits students to B.Tech / Integrated M.Tech, M.Tech, MBA, and PhD programmes for 2026-27 mainly through national entrance exams (JEE Advanced / JEE Main, GATE, CAT/XAT/CMAT, etc.) followed by institute-level counselling.

Admission Process Steps:

Step 1: Appear in the relevant entrance exam

• B.Tech / IDD:
• Appear in JEE Advanced 2026 (primary); JEE Main 2026 may be used in later rounds.
• M.Tech:
• Appear in GATE 2026 in the relevant paper.
• MBA:
• Appear in CAT / XAT / CMAT / GMAT / MAT 2025-26 as per RGIPT’s accepted list.

Step 2: Register on the RGIPT portal

• Visit the official website: https://www.rgipt.ac.in → go to Admissions / 2026-27.
• Create an account, fill the online application form (personal, academic, exam details, category, preferences), and upload scanned documents.

Step 3: Pay application fee

• Pay the application fee online (typically ?1,500–2,000 for B.Tech; varies by course and category).

Step 4: Counselling and seat allotment

• B.Tech / IDD:
• RGIPT conducts its own online counselling in 2–3 rounds based on JEE Advanced rank first, then JEE Main rank for remaining seats.
• M.Tech:
• Admission via CCMT counselling using GATE score, followed by institute-level confirmation.
• MBA:
• Shortlisted candidates are called for WAT + PI; final merit list is prepared based on entrance score + WAT + PI + academic profile.

Step 5: Reporting and document verification

• After allotment, report to RGIPT Amethi campus within the stipulated dates.
• Submit original documents for verification:
• 10th, 12th / Intermediate / graduation mark sheets and certificates.
• Entrance-exam scorecard (JEE Advanced / JEE Main / GATE / CAT-XAT-CMAT-GMAT-MAT).
• Caste / income / PH / EWS / NRI/OCI certificates (if applicable).
• Transfer / migration / conduct certificate and passport-size photographs.

Step 6: Fee payment and admission confirmation

• Pay tuition and other fees as per the fee structure notified for 2026-27.
• Complete physical / online registration (ID card, biometrics, hostel allotment if applicable) to confirm admission.

Eligibility criteria (2026-27)

Undergraduate (B.Tech / Integrated M.Tech)

• B.Tech (Petroleum / Chemical / Mechanical / Electrical / Civil / Computer Science, etc.):
• Passed 10+2 (PCM) with minimum 75% aggregate (relaxed to 60–65% for SC/ST/PwD, depending on year).
• Must have a valid JEE Advanced rank; in some rounds, JEE Main rank is also accepted.
• Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) / 5-year programmes:
• 10+2 (PCM) with 60% aggregate (55% for SC/ST) + JEE Advanced rank.

Postgraduate (M.Tech)

• M.Tech in Petroleum / Chemical / Mechanical / Electrical / Computer Science, etc.:
• Bachelor’s degree (B.Tech / B.E.) in a relevant discipline with minimum 60% aggregate (55% for SC/ST).
• Valid GATE score; selection via CCMT-based counselling or institute-level process.

MBA

• MBA (Oil & Gas / General):
• Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with minimum 60% aggregate (55% for reserved categories).
• Valid score in CAT / XAT / CMAT / GMAT / MAT; final selection via WAT (Written Ability Test) + PI (Personal Interview).

PhD

• PhD in Engineering / Management / Sciences:
• Master’s degree (M.Tech / M.Sc. / MBA) with minimum 60% aggregate (55% for SC/ST).
• Selection through written test + interview (sometimes GATE / NET / UGC-NET scores are considered).
