Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute Admissions Details

Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute Application/Admission Process

Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute (RKMVERI), located at Belur Math, Howrah, West Bengal, is a NAAC A++ accredited Deemed-to-be University established under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. Administered under the spiritual and educational auspices of the Ramakrishna Mission, RKMVERI integrates scientific research, classical Indian heritage, agricultural development, and sports science.

The university invites applications for its various Undergraduate, Post Graduate (M.Sc., M.A.), Post Graduate Diploma, Certificate, and Doctoral (Ph.D.) programs for the academic year 2026–2027.

Admission Process

Admissions at RKMVERI strictly follow a merit-based, multi-stage evaluation framework. Depending on the discipline, selection involves written entrance examinations, national-level standardized scores (such as CUET PG, CSIR/UGC-NET, NBHM), personal interviews, and physical fitness or vocal tests.

Online Application Portal Registration

Prospective candidates must register online through the official RKMVERI online admission portal. Applicants need to create an account using a valid email address and mobile number, fill in personal and academic details, select their desired discipline and campus (Belur Main Campus), and upload scanned copies of required documents.

Entrance Examination Mode

For programs requiring an institutional entrance exam (e.g., M.Sc. Physics, M.Sc. Mathematics, M.Sc. Data Science and AI), offline written tests are conducted primarily at the Belur Main Campus. Outstation candidates can request exam centers at nearby Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission centers across major cities such as Delhi, Ranchi, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Agartala, subject to departmental approval.

CUET-PG Channel

Certain M.Sc. programs accept candidates through CUET-PG scorecards (e.g., paper codes SCQP09, MTQP04, SCQP19). Candidates applying through CUET-PG submit their scorecards directly during online application submission for shortlisting.

Interview and Final Counseling

Candidates shortlisted based on the written test or national test scores are called for a face-to-face personal interview at the Belur Campus. For Ph.D. admissions, candidates present their research interest before a departmental research committee. Final admission lists and instructions are published on the institutional departmental portals.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q1: Can final-year undergraduate students apply for M.Sc. programs at RKMVERI Belur?

Yes. Final-year students completing their Bachelor's degree in 2026 are eligible to apply, provided they have secured the required aggregate percentage (minimum 60%) up to their penultimate semester. Final admission remains conditional upon producing the final marksheets with the required percentage at the time of enrollment.

Q2: Is hostel accommodation guaranteed for all admitted students?

No. Hostel accommodation at the Belur Main Campus is limited and granted through a separate application procedure following admission. Selection involves a rigorous review and personal interaction with candidates and parents.

Q3: Are there scholarships available for students experiencing financial hardship?

Yes. While no scholarships cover the initial admission fee, students can apply for State Government and National Scholarship schemes (such as NSP, Merit-Cum-Means, or Indira Gandhi Single Girl Child Scholarship). The institute assists eligible students from low-income backgrounds in securing financial aid in subsequent semesters.

Q4: Is attendance mandatory for all academic and value education modules at RKMVERI?

Yes. Regular class attendance is strictly monitored. Hostel residents must maintain a minimum of 85% attendance, while day scholars require a minimum of 75% attendance. Weekly classes on Value Education based on Swami Vivekananda's teachings are compulsory for all students.

Q5: Can candidates from outside West Bengal sit for the entrance examination without traveling to Belur?

Yes. Outstation candidates can email the respective academic department at least 10 days before the exam to request taking the entrance test at a nearby Ramakrishna Math or Ramakrishna Mission center (such as Delhi, Ranchi, Chennai, Bangalore, Agartala, or Hyderabad).
