Sri Jagadguru Murugharajendra Arts College for Women, popularly known as S.J.M. Arts College for Women was started by S.J.M. Vidyapeetha during the year 1982 with an intention to provide higher education for the women students when there were no colleges for women in the entire district. This college at that time was affiliated to the University of Mysore, Mysore, later to Kuvempu University, Shimoga and now affiliated to Davangere University, Davangere, KarnatakaThe college is situated in the heart of historic city. It is fully equipped with adequate number of classrooms, Interactive Smart Boards, LCD projectors, Multimedia and other audio visual teaching aids. CCTV Surveillance System is operating in the campus to ensure safety of our students. Library and Information Centre is catering the information requirements of reading community. Sports facilities for conducting indoor and outdoor events have been provided. Our students are provided with residing and boarding facilities in the hostel building constructed with the financial assistance of UGC.
