Smt. Veeramma Gangasiri College for Women, established in 1965, was the first women's college in the Hyderabad-Karnataka region, founded with a generous donation from Shri Basawanappa Gangasiri in memory of his mother, Smt. Veeramma Gangasiri.Initially affiliated with Karnataka University, Dharwad, the college later affiliated with Gulbarga University in 1980 and achieved permanent affiliation with Karnataka State Akkamahadevi Women's University, Vijayapura, in 2004.The college is recognized under Sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act and has been accredited by NAAC with an 'A++' grade in the 4th cycle, awarded on July 8, 2023.
