Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) conducts a National Entrance Test called TISSNET. Every year shortlisted candidates for management programs across its various campuses. For the academic session 2024-24, the exam will be conducted on 4th January 2024. Candidates are shortlisted based on their TISSNET score for the next round of Pre-Interview Tests (PIT) and Personal Interviews (PI). TISS campuses are located across various cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad, Tuljapur, Guwahati, and a few more locations to name.

The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) was established in 1936 as the Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work. In 1944, it was renamed the Tata Institute of Social Sciences. TISS has aimed to stay at the cutting edge of education, research, and outreach in important areas of human development and public policy concerns. It has provided support to government institutions and grassroots organizations and applied its academic research and field expertise to assess policies around social needs and social welfare. TISS has consistently tried to seek solutions to the complex real-world issues that concern people in India. In the past decade, the Institute has demonstrated its capacity to understand, learn from, and respond to the transforming realities in the country with the onset of a liberalized economy and globalization.

TISSNET 2024 Application form

TISSNET Registration can be done online and offline modes. Candidates can apply for a maximum of 3 programs at 2 different campuses of TISS. TISSNET 2024 Application form starts in the month of October and ends in November 2022.

TISSNET Online Application

  • Candidates have to visit the official website of TISSNET i.e. admissions.tiss.edu.
  • The registration will be done through the E-application Process.
  • Register with a valid email ID. You will be sent a password on that id to log in with.
  • After the TISSNET Application Form opens up, enter all your academic, personal and preferred course details.
  • Pay the requisite application fee (depending on the number of programs applied) either online or offline mode.
  • Scan and upload your photograph, signature, mark sheet of the last exam passed, and other necessary certificates.

Application Fee

  • The application fee for TISSNET 2024 is Rs 1030 (application fee for Rs 1000 plus bank charges).
  • Candidates belonging to SC and ST categories, whose parent’s/guardian’s annual income is less than Rs. 2.5 Lakh while candidates belonging to the OBC category, whose parent’s annual income is below Rs 1 lakh are required to pay Rs 250 as an application fee.

Mode of Payment

  • The mode of payment can be either in the form of SBI Challan/online payment through Net Banking/ Credit /Debit Card.

TISSNET 2024 Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates with a year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates studying in three and four-year degree programmes should have passed all the subjects of semester 1 to semester 4 and semester 1 to semester 6 respectively.
  • Candidates studying in the final year of their degree programme are also eligible to apply.

TISSNET 2024 Exam Pattern

TISSNET 2024 will consist of 100 multiple-choice questions related to subjects of Social Sensitivity, Logical Reasoning, Analytical Ability and Knowledge of Contemporary issues. The duration of the test is for 100 minutes i.e 1 hour and 40 minutes. There is no negative marking.

TISSNET 2024 Syllabus

The exam will be based on a question related to analytical ability, logical reasoning and general knowledge, and English Proficiency.

Awareness of General and Social Issues: History, Economic Processes, Personalities, Recent social issues, Geography, Meaning of Term, General Geology, Social Activities and Movements, Sociological Awareness, Literature, Fine Arts and music, Films, and Current Affairs.

Language Ability: Analogy, Vocabulary, Acronyms, Reading Comprehension, Fill in the blanks, pairing of words, Synonyms and antonyms, Rearrange the sentences.

Analytical and Numerical Ability: Time and work, Ratio, Basic Geometry, Time and distance, Square Root, Percentage, Simple & compound interest, Mixtures, and Allegations, Properties of shapes, HCF, LCM, Areas, Volumes, Average, Basic set concepts, Speed-distance-time, BODMAS, Ratio and proportion, Basic algebra, Number theory.

TISSNET 2024 Admit Card

The TISSNET 2024 admit card will be available online in December 2022. Candidates can download their admit card using their email ID and password provided at the time of registration. Admit cards will not be sent by post.

TISSNET 2024 Result

The result of TISSNET 2024 will be announced in the month of January 2024. Candidates can check their TISSNET Result 2024 by using their email ID and password. Candidates can check if they have been shortlisted for the Pre-Interview Test and Personal Interview. Shortlisted candidates would need to download the detailed application form which will be available from the third week of February.

 

TISSNET 2024 Counselling

  • The TISSNET 2024 counselling process is into two phases.
  • The weightage for NET (National Entrance Test), PIT (Pre-Interview Test) and PI (Personal Interview) are as follows for the preparation of final merit lists for General as well as for Reserved Category candidates. NET – 40%; PIT – 30%; PI – 30%
  • The merit list will be prepared on the basis of merit and the preferences indicated by the candidates at the time of filling up the online application form (Kindly Indicate your preferences carefully as it has implications for the merit list)

TISSNET 2024 Preparation Tips

English Proficiency

English Proficiency section is broadly divided into two parts – Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension.

  • Read newspapers daily the newspapers are not just an excellent source of knowledge but also of English improvement. It will improve your reading comprehension and will also help you with sentence structuring. If you can’t read the newspapers in one go, read it in sections.
  • Learn idioms, synonyms, and antonyms you are preparing for the English section, This is one of the most important TISSNET preparation tips in 2024.

Maths & Logical Reasoning

Get the Basics Rightmost of the questions asked in the section are based on basic mathematical concepts. Therefore, to do well in this section, you just need to be on good terms with Class 10th and 12th Maths. This much is enough.

General Awareness

Gain Knowledge of all fields Current events is not the only area you need to focus on while preparing for TISSNET 2024.
