Government Schools Shine as Science and Commerce Top with 99.4%

According to the Board, a total of 39,309 students appeared for the examinations this year, out of which 35,299 passed. Notably, 20,011 students achieved distinction, meaning every second student delivered an outstanding performance. Additionally, 13,260 students passed in the first division. While 3,891 students are required to appear for the compartment (re-examination), only 119 students were unsuccessful.

Once again, female students showcased remarkable performance. In the Arts stream, 92% of girls passed compared to 90% of boys. In Commerce, 91% of girls and 88% of boys were successful. In the Science stream, both boys and girls stood on equal ground with a pass percentage of 93%.

Historical Milestone for Government Schools

A significant number of students from government schools have secured places on the merit list. Experts suggest that this is the first time government institutions have featured so prominently in the rankings.

  • A student from Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Gandhi Nagar (Jammu), topped the Arts stream.
  • 13 students from Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Rehari Colony, made it to the merit list.
  • Students from government schools in Canal Road and Mubarak Mandi also secured positions in the merit rankings.

Stream-wise Analysis: Science Leads the Way

The Science stream emerged as the top performer, with over 95% of students passing in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics. In Commerce, while Accountancy and Business Studies showed strong results, a pass percentage of 88% in Economics slightly impacted the overall average. The Arts stream maintained a balanced performance, with subjects like History, Political Science, Hindi, and Urdu recording pass percentages between 90% and 95%.

  • Science Stream: Ayushi Sharma from Happy Model Higher Secondary School, Udhampur, secured the first rank with 497/500 marks (99.4%).
  • Commerce Stream: Manik Dogra from SP Higher Secondary School, Jammu, also secured the first rank with 497/500 marks (99.4%).
  • Arts Stream: Prince Prabhat Singh (Govt Boys HSS, Gandhi Nagar) and Rudransh Rajput (Shiksha Niketan HSS, Jeevan Nagar) jointly shared the first rank with 495/500 marks (99%).
