1.92 lakh aspirants clear Edcet

HYDERABAD: Out of a total of 1,97,420 students who appeared for the exam, 1,04,866 were female candidates and 87,523 were male candidates.
As many as 1,92,389 students qualified in the Education Common Entrance Test (Edcet-2011) results that were announced on Saturday for admissions to B.Ed colleges across the state.

While a total of 1,97,420 students appeared for the exam, 97 per cent of them were declared qualified. Of them 1,04,866 were female candidates and 87,523 were men candidates.

About 65,000 seats are available in 615 B.Ed colleges across the state.

The test comprised of five subjects, namely Mathematics, Physical Science, Biological Science, Social Studies and English.

“The web-based counselling for B.Ed admissions will commence from the third week of July. The admissions and fee regulatory committee is yet to decide on the fee structure for the B.Ed courses this year,” the chairman of Edcet, Prof. D.N. Reddy, said.

He added that two new B.Ed colleges were expected to get approval this year.
