AP ECET 2026 Participation Statistics: 2025 vs. 2026

The number of applicants for AP ECET has remained relatively stable over the last few years, with a slight upward trend in 2026 due to the increasing popularity of lateral entry in Computer Science and AI-related branches.

Gender-Wise Breakdown

The AP ECET traditionally sees a higher number of male participants, primarily because a large majority of Diploma students in core engineering branches (Mechanical, Civil, EEE) are male. However, female participation is steadily rising, particularly in Electronics (ECE), Computer Science (CSE), and Pharmacy.

2025 Gender Data (Qualified Candidates):

  • Male: 23,431
  • Female: 6,473

2026 Trend Analysis:

Early registration data for 2026 suggests a 7% to 10% increase in female applicants compared to last year. This is largely driven by the expansion of seats in "new-age" IT branches where the gender gap is narrower than in traditional manufacturing or construction branches.

Stream-Wise Participation Trends

While the exact 2026 numbers by branch will be released post-exam, the current application trends show the following distribution:

  1. Engineering (Diploma Holders): 85% of total participants.
    • Top Branches: CSE, ECE, and Mechanical Engineering continue to have the highest volumes.
  2. Pharmacy (Diploma Holders): 10% of total participants.
    • This stream has a significantly higher female-to-male ratio compared to the engineering stream.
  3. B.Sc. (Mathematics) Graduates: 5% of total participants.
    • This remains a smaller niche, as most B.Sc. graduates opt for regular PG courses, but those seeking lateral entry into B.Tech are increasing.

What Happens After Results?

Once the results are announced on May 7, 2026 the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) will initiate the online counselling process, likely starting in June 2026.

Counselling Process Steps:

  1. Online Registration & Fee Payment: Rs.1,200 for OC/BC and Rs.600 for SC/ST.
  2. Document Verification: Primarily online; candidates only need to visit Help Line Centres (HLC) if there is a discrepancy in their digital documents.
  3. Web Options Entry: Selecting preferred colleges and branches in order of priority.
  4. Seat Allotment: Based on rank, category, and availability.
  5. Reporting: Candidates must perform "Self-Reporting" online and then physically report to the allotted college.

Top Participating Institutes (Expected Cutoff Ranks)

  • AU College of Engineering, Visakhapatnam: Ranks 200 – 1,000.
  • JNTU Kakinada/Anantapur: Ranks 1,000 – 2,500.
  • Koneru Lakshmaiah (KLU): Ranks 1 – 500.
  • Sri Venkateswara University (SVU): Ranks 2,500 – 5,000.

Note: AP ECET ranks are valid for admission into lateral entry B.E./B.Tech and B.Pharmacy programs specifically within the state of Andhra Pradesh for the 2026-27 academic year.
