AU Soon to Launch Special Course in PR

Visakhapatnam: The Andhra University will introduce a special course in public relations shortly, said vice-chancellor G.S.N. Raju. He inaugurated a national seminar on Government-Media Relations organized by the Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) on 22nd March.
Emphasizing the need for media and government to work in tandem for the development of the nation, Raju suggested that public relations officers be unbiased, impartial and socially responsible while communicating information.

PRSI national president Ajit Pathak said that in this competitive world, PR personnel should must offer quality services to people. He stressed the need to encourage research in public relations and mitigation of negative impact of social networking media.

Andhra University former rector A Prasanna Kumar pointed out that the media should not create confusion among public and should strengthen the society instead. Senior journalist R Sampath said that media should not give priority to sensationalism, but take Gandhi and Tilak as role models while communicating to the masses.

Symbiosys Technologies chief executive officer O Naresh Kumar wanted all the 32 branches of PRSI to take up social activities so the best branch would be honored with an award every year. Later, GN Murthy, who worked as PRSI-Visakhapatnam chairman for a long time, was felicitated
