BPSC Announces Sports Department Exam Results

PATNA — The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has officially announced the written examination results for various posts under the Sports Department, Government of Bihar. Published under Advertisement No. 90/2025, the recruitment drive aims to fill key vacancies across the department, including the positions of District Sports Officer (DSO), Assistant Director (Sports), Assistant Director (Youth), and Lecturer positions.

According to official statistics from the Commission, a total of 304 candidates appeared for the written examination held earlier this year on January 29 and 30, 2026. Following evaluation, 75 candidates have successfully cleared the written stage and have been shortlisted to advance to the interview round.

How Candidates were selected?

In the selection process conducted by the BPSC, candidates were assessed based on multiple criteria to prepare a merit list. Key factors included the scores earned in the written exam, academic performance in graduation, relevant professional courses associated with sports, and notable achievements in sports activities. By aggregating these different metrics, the commission successfully shortlisted a total of 75 candidates to proceed to the subsequent phase of the recruitment process.

Category-Wise Distribution of Shortlisted Candidates

Out of the 75 shortlisted candidates, the category breakdown is as follows:

Category Qualified Candidates
Unreserved (UR) 37
Economically Weaker Section (EWS) 6
Scheduled Caste (SC) 4
Scheduled Tribe (ST) 3
Extremely Backward Class (EBC) 15
Backward Class (BC) 10

BPSC has highlighted that the combined merit list does not include candidates from specific categories: women from backward classes, individuals with visual disabilities, and grandchildren of freedom fighters. This absence raises concerns regarding representation and accessibility for these groups within the selection process.

The Commission noted that the formal schedule and guidelines for the upcoming interview/personality test round will be released in a separate notification.
