CAT 2014 to make scaling process public ahead of exam

Common Admission Test (CAT-2014) aspirants need not run from pillar to post if they are unhappy with their results this year. After CAT-2013 got embroiled in controversy with students dragging the exam conducting body - IIM-Indore - to court, the institute has decided to make public the equating & scaling (numerical) procedure of evaluation. The decision to make its evaluation process transparent will be announced ahead of the examination schedule - November 16 and 22.

Public relations officer, IIM-I, Akhtar Parvez said, "Last year, CAT aspirants alleged anomalies in scaling procedure and this sparked off protests. Later, students also met IIM-I officials. Selection is free and fair in CAT. But to avoid confusion, we have decided to make the scaling process public."

In February this year, Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh high court issued notices to all IIMs, government of India, CAT and Prometric Testing Pvt Ltd (partner agency of CAT 2013) following a petition filed by students alleging discrepancies in evaluation. The petition was filed by aggrieved candidates, Rutvij Waze and Vikram Singh of Indore.
