EAMCET aspirants must fill OMR sheets carefully

HYDERABAD: Students appearing for the EAMCET have to concentrate not just on their preparation but also while filling the crucial information on the OMR sheets during the examination as mistakes can make their plans go haywire, says N.V. Ramana Rao, EAMCET-2011 Convenor.

What are the common mistakes made?

Last year 3,000 odd students did not write the booklet code in the OMR sheet creating problems during valuation. Some students do it deliberately as they know that we value their sheets with all the four codes and give the best score to them. But this year we will be strict and may not value the scripts at all. Students should not write any irrelevant matter like religious text or slogans and in such cases the sheets will be treated as invalid.

How important are OMR sheets?

OMR sheets are candidate specific carrying their photograph, father's name and centre's name. So students should ensure that the right OMR sheet is given to them and any discrepancy should be brought to the notice of the invigilator.

What measures are being taken to avoid impersonation?

We are taking the finger prints of all candidates in the nominal rolls where students sign. Earlier only signature and photographs used to be matched. The finger prints will be matched with the candidate during the admissions time to ensure that candidate is same.

What measures are being taken to guide students about the centres?

We have already sent the information of the centre and its phone number to all the candidates through SMS. So they should visit the centre to know the exact location. We have asked all the centres to display direction boards for easy location.

Will candidates be allowed if they come late?

We are asking the centres to close the gates at 10 a.m. for engineering and 2 p.m. for medicine papers. However, candidates who enter the college gate in time will not be treated as late comers though they might come to the examination hall late.I advise students to start earlyas we are allowing entry into the centre 45 minutes before scheduled time.
