Gitanjali School ranked best in State, eighth in India

The Gitanjali School, a group of three schools in the city, today claimed to have been ranked as the eighth most respected day-school in the country in the recently conducted ‘Education World C Fore Survey 2011'.
Conducted to rate India's most respected day, boarding and international schools, the survey, which was held in September, ranked Gitanjali School as the best in the State and third best in South India, school director Gita Karan claimed at a press conference here on Tuesday.
From a list of over 400 schools from across the country, top schools had been selected based on opinions from over 2000 parents, teachers and independent educationists from 16 cities. The most respected schools were shortlisted based on 14 parameters of educational excellence, including academic reputation, co-curricular activities, quality of faculty, sports education and value for money among others. “In 1985 we started off with 10 rooms and 150 children. We have achieved a rapid growth in last 26 years only because of our goal of providing quality education,” said Ms. Gita Karan. The Shri Ram School in Delhi, Cathedral and John Connon School in Mumbai, Padma Sheshadri Bala Bhavan in Chennai and Vasant Valley School in Delhi are among the top five day-schools listed in the survey.
