Govt Mulling Merger of BEd and DIET

The state government is contemplating issuing the DSC notification within a week, after bringing the issue over permitting BEd candidates for the posts of Secondary Grade Teachers (SGT) to a logical conclusion. It is also examining the possibility of allowing the BEd candidates to compete with the DiET (diploma) candidates for the posts of Secondary Grade Teachers (SGT). A final decision to this effect will be taken after consulting the Centre, HRD minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao has said.
Srinivasa Rao told reporters here on 7th September that the government was considering merging BEd with DiET and a decision would be taken only after consulting all the stakeholders.
The government would also come up with a new sports policy to encourage sportspersons. "For students, we will consider giving additional marks in academics if they participate in national and international sports events. We are also thinking of conducting the National Games in the state, particularly Vizag."
