IIT Madras includes ‘international immersion learning’ in Executive MBA programme

Candidates need to have 60 percent and above in graduation (any discipline), minimum of three years of work experience, and selection through an entrance exam and a virtual personal interview conducted by the Department of Management Studies.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras’ Department of Management Studies (DoMS) today included an ‘international immersion learning’ component to its Executive MBA programme for working professionals. The core focus of the International Immersion Learning programme, according to an IIT Madras statement, is on global leadership and cultural intelligence.

Applications for this programme are open till October 19. Candidates can apply online at the official website— doms.iitm.ac.in/emba.

The classes will be held in person over alternate weekends from January 2024. Candidates need to have 60 per cent and above in graduation (any discipline), minimum three years of work experience, and selection through an entrance exam and a virtual personal interview conducted by the Department of Management Studies.

The duration of the programme is two years. It comprises a “rigorous, practice-oriented curriculum,” including three projects that utilise the application of theoretical concepts to live business problems, as per IIT-M.

The EMBA programme will offer knowledge in sync with the industry requirements in domains such as digital economy, global strategy and industry 4.0 technologies. It focuses on areas including core management concepts and its application to real world challenges, integrated ideas across business domains, global perspectives, and analytical, digital embeddedness in decision processes. 

“Under this initiative several students from the 2023 and 2024 batches of the Executive MBA programme attended a 9-day immersion programme at IÉSEG School of Management in two countries and three locations – Brussels in Belgium and Paris, Lille in France. The programme included classroom sessions to get a thorough understanding of global cultures and how business is done in a region with a complex socio-cultural setup like Europe,” stated the official statement.

Students got a glimpse of the innovation and research centre in Decathlon and its workings. They also got a peek into Ports de Lille (France’s largest inland river port) to understand France’s transportation network, an understand of the dynamics of European governance by members of the European Parliament and other of the European Commission and a socio-cultural experience in a typical French household.

The major aspects of the course includes equipping mid-career working professionals with deep functional and broad industrial domain knowledge, integrative perspective of boundary-spanning business decisions, leadership traits to contribute to a global business setup
