The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced recruitment for 365 positions within the Indian Coast Guard, inviting applications from eligible male and female Indian citizens. The current recruitment drive aims to fill positions across several key domains:
Navik (General Duty - GD): Open to both male and female candidates who have completed Class 12 with Mathematics and Physics.
Navik (Domestic Branch - DB): Open to male candidates who have passed Class 10.
Yantrik: Open to male candidates with a Matriculation certificate combined with an AICTE-approved engineering diploma (Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics/Telecommunication).
Hygienist-I: Open for candidates holding a Class 10 or equivalent ITI qualification.
For Navik: Candidates aspiring for different roles in the Indian Navy must meet specific educational qualifications. For the position of Navik (General Duty), applicants are required to have completed Class 12 with Mathematics and Physics from a board that is recognized by the Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE). On the other hand, those applying for the Navik (Domestic Branch) need to have passed Class 10 from a COBSE-recognized board.For Hygienist-I: Individuals interested in the Hygienist-I position must have completed matriculation or have an ITI or an equivalent qualification, also from a board recognized by either the Central or State Government.For Yantrik: candidates should have passed Class 10 from a COBSE-recognized board and must possess a three- or four-year diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, or Telecommunication Engineering (specifically Radio/Power) that has been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Moreover, those who have completed both Class 10 and Class 12, along with possessing a two- or three-year AICTE-approved diploma in the relevant engineering fields, are also eligible to apply.
Applicants must carefully verify their age and educational credentials before applying, as criteria vary by post and batch:
Navik (GD): Candidates must be born between November 1, 2005, and May 1, 2009.
Navik (DB): Date of birth must fall between November 1, 2005, and October 1, 2009.
Yantrik: Applicants must be born between May 1, 2005, and May 1, 2009.
Application Fee: A standard application fee of Rs.550 is applicable for all unreserved categories, while SC/ST candidates are exempt from payment.
The multi-stage selection structure ensures rigorous screening of candidates:
Stage-I (Computer-Based CBT): Focuses on a written examination testing aptitude, mathematics, physics, and basic technical knowledge depending on the post.
Stage-II: Physical Fitness Test (PFT), Physical Standards Test (PST), and initial Document Verification.
Stage-III & IV: Final medical examinations, submission of original documents, and induction training at INS Chilka.
