One lakh engineering seats go vacant

Seats were allotted to candidates who have attend the first phase of Web-based Eamcet counseling from August 19 to September 3 and exercised their option through the web on 17th September. While 1, 26,390 seats were filled, 1, 08,098 seats were left vacant.

The options exercised by the candidates were processed on Tuesday and allotments were displayed on the website: htpps://apeamcet.nic.in. In all, 2, 18,893 students got qualified in the exam for engineering and pharmacy courses for the academic year 2013-14.

The certificates of 1, 30,290 candidates were verified between August 19 and September 3, of which 1,28,724 had exercised their options between Sept 3 and 15.

According to JNTU officials, the total number of options given by all the candidates was 41, 30,777. While the minimum was 1, the maximum number of options exercised by the candidates was 1,323. Under Category ‘A’, 2, 34,488 seats are available and the total number of convenor seats filled were 1, 26,390. Seats left vacant are 1, 08,098.

There are 6,550 seats in 34 university engineering colleges and 2, 19,296 seats in 609 private engineering colleges. In case of pharmacy, there are 265 seats in 12 university colleges and 14,337 seats in 266 private pharmacy colleges.

Candidates have to download the allotment order from candidates’ login by entering their registration number, hall ticket number, password and date of birth. Also to be downloaded is the bank challan for payment of fee. The fee indicated in the allotment order has to be paid in any branch of the Indian Bank or the Andhra Bank in the state.

In respect of fee reimbursement, challan need not be downloaded. All candidates with allotment order and fee receipt have to report to the respective college where the seat has been allotted on or before September 23.

CertificatE Return: Candidates who are not interested to join and those who have not secured seats can approach the helpline centres, where they have deposited their certificates, to take them back if they are not interested in participating in the subsequent phases of admissions.
