Recruitment exam to focus on Telangana state stir

Hyderabad: Emphasis on mathematics and sciences could be vastly reduced in the first Telangana State Public Services Commission (TSPSC) exams, while the focus could be laid on the Telangana statehood struggle since the 1950s.
Members of the TSPSC on Saturday unanimously approved the recommendations of the Haragopal Committee and sent them to the government. Creation of the State Civil Services has also been recommended to the government.

The 28-member Haragopal Committee had submitted its report to the TSPSC and the same was approved on Saturday and sent to the government. The government will now take a decision on this. TSPSC chairman Prof. Ghanta Chakrapani said, “This is only about the format scheme of the exams. We have sent the recommendation of the Haragopal Committee to the government. The government will take a decision and issue an order with the format scheme of each exam. After that we will finalize full syllabus.”

As already reported, format of the scheme will largely remain the same. However, the stress on mathematics and sciences will be reduced.“The Mathematics and science components may be reduced. There will be added components of the Telangana culture, history, economy, society. Focus will also be on the Telangana statehood struggle from the 1950s to 2014,” Prof. Chakrapani said. Asked if it would bring down difficulty levels, Prof. Chakrapani said, “Whatever we need from the candidate we will test. Lot of people felt that a 150-mark mathematics paper was affecting chances of candidates from rural and arts background. We want to make it accessible to all.”
