State varsitites to get anti copying software

All the universities in the state are set to introduce `anti-copying software' to check copying by research scholars. Currently, only the JNTUHyderabad has such a facility. There have been several complaints that the Ph.D students were resorting to “cut-and-paste“ methods by sourcing information from the Internet for preparing theses reports.

The JNTU-Hyderabad, which came out with this novel initiative last year, has achieved good results.Using this system, the JNTU-H has detected that nearly 50 per cent of its research scholars have copied content from various sources. The university has asked the students to resubmit their thesis papers.Other universities too receive similar complaints every year. To check this menace, the department of higher education has planned to extend the `anticopying software' to all the universities from the ensuing academic year 2012-13. The issue will be discussed during the Vice-Chancellors' Conference ahead of the new academic year.
