Students denied B.Tech

HYDERABAD : Several students who completed polytechnic courses at the Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad, a Central university, are being denied admission into B.Tech courses by the state government in the ongoing ECet counselling.

Polytechnic students are generally given admission directly into the second year of B.Tech courses through lateral-entry in the ECet counselling every year.

However, MANUU students were in for a rude shock on Thursday when the ECet counselling officials refused to give them admission into B.Tech courses, saying that polytechnic courses offered by MANUU are not recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education.

When contacted, the commissioner of technical education, Mr P. Laxminarayana said that they have written to the AICTE about the issue and are yet to receive a response.
