IISc Bangalore has once again listed out in the list of best globally recognised universities. It is the Asia’s 27th best university as per Times Higher Education (THE) Ranking 2017. There are 33 Indian Institutes among Asia’s top 300 this year.
Not long ago, IISc Bangalore was globally ranked 8th in the Best Small Universiities in the World 2017. As per Livemint report, THE editor Phil Baty said in an email, ''It is great news that India has more than doubled its representation in this year's ranking of Asia's best universities, claiming 33 places in the top-300 list …It means that India is now the third most-represented nation in the table for the first time''.
However, India's performance deteriorated as several institutes lost places due to what Baty described as "increased competition." The second highest ranked institute from India is Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT Bombay), placed at rank 42. Leaving several top IITs behind, Tamil Nadu-based Veltech University secured 43rd rank in Asia. Other top ranking universities such as IIT Delhi and IIT Madras have been ranked 54 and 62 respectively. The survey states that our country is still far behind Japan and China.

Indian Education is improving and climibing the global ladder of best education institutions is all because of the tremendous efforts from the institutions. The THE editor also attributed India's strong performance partly due to participating in global benchmarking exercises. "Last year, the (Indian) government launched a new funding-backed project aimed at catapulting Indian Institutes of Technology to the top of world university rankings," he said.
