The application window for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Engineering Services Examination (ESE) 2027 officially closes today, October 6, 2026, at 6:00 PM. The notification for ESE 2027 was released on September 16, 2026, under Notice No. 02/2027-ENGG. According to the official update, the recruitment drive aims to fill approximately 480 vacancies across various engineering disciplines.

Discipline-Wise Vacancy Distribution
The 480 openings are distributed among four core engineering branches: Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering.
(Note: Out of the total count, 19 vacancies are specifically reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), covering categories such as Locomotor Disability, Hard of Hearing, Low Vision, and Multiple Disabilities.)
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification: Candidates must hold a degree in engineering from a recognized university, an equivalent qualification, or have passed sections A and B of the Institution of Engineers (India) examinations, or possess a graduate membership degree from professional bodies recognized by the government.
Age Limit: Candidates must be between 21 and 30 years of age as of January 1, 2027 (born not earlier than January 2, 1997, and not later than January 1, 2006). Age relaxations apply to reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/PwBD) as per government guidelines.
Three-Stage Selection Process
The selection for UPSC ESE 2027 follows a rigorous three-tier examination structure:
Paper I: General Studies & Engineering Aptitude (200 marks, 2 hours)
Paper II: Engineering Discipline-Specific (300 marks, 3 hours)

Candidates who have not yet completed their registration must follow these steps immediately:
Visit the official application website at upsconline.nic.in.
Complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) to generate a permanent Universal Registration Number (URN).
Fill out the Common Application Form and proceed to the ESE 2027 examination-specific module.
Upload clear scanned copies of your photograph and signature (in JPG format, sized between 20 KB and 300 KB) alongside live photo capture.
Pay the required application fee of INR 200 (exempted for female, SC, ST, and PwBD candidates) via net banking, credit/debit card, or UPI.
Submit the application form before 6:00 PM today and print a copy for future reference.
