I recently graduated from the Civil Engineering department at SRM University, and overall it was a good learning experience. The department provides a solid foundation in core civil engineering subjects like structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, transportation, and environmental engineering. Most of the professors are knowledgeable and supportive, and they try to connect theoretical concepts with practical applications whenever possible. During my time there, the labs and practical sessions helped me understand how civil engineering concepts are used in real projects. We also had opportunities to learn software tools and participate in seminars, technical events, and student chapters, which added to the overall exposure. The department also encourages students to take part in internships and industry interactions, which is helpful for understanding how the construction and infrastructure industry actually works. While like any university there is always room for improvement, my time at SRM helped me build a strong base in civil engineering and prepared me for the next step in my career.

Campus Facilities: The campus infrastructure at SRM University is well developed and provides a good environment for learning. The classrooms are spacious, well maintained, and equipped with projectors which makes lectures easier to follow. The civil engineering department has good laboratory facilities for subjects like structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, and surveying, which helped us understand practical concepts better. The library is also very useful, with a wide range of textbooks, reference materials, and digital resources for students. On campus, there are multiple food courts, cafeterias, and basic facilities like ATMs, stationery stores, and medical services which are convenient for students. The hostels are comfortable and located close to the academic blocks, making daily campus life easier. Overall, the infrastructure and facilities support both academic learning and student convenience.
Campus Life: Campus life at SRM University was one of the most memorable parts of my college experience. The university organizes many cultural, technical, and sports events throughout the year, which keeps students engaged beyond academics. One of the biggest highlights is the annual fest Aaruush, where students participate in technical competitions, workshops, and exhibitions. Apart from that, there are many clubs and student chapters where students can develop leadership skills and work on projects with peers. The campus is lively with students from different states and countries, which creates a diverse and friendly atmosphere. There are also plenty of places on campus to relax with friends after classes. Overall, campus life is enjoyable and offers a good balance between academics, activities, and social experiences.
Faculty: The faculty members in the Civil Engineering department at SRM Institute of Science and Technology are knowledgeable and experienced in their respective subjects. Many professors have strong academic backgrounds and are involved in research activities, which helps bring updated knowledge into the classroom. They are approachable and generally supportive when students need guidance for projects, assignments, or career advice. Some professors focus strongly on practical understanding by including case studies, site examples, and laboratory demonstrations during the course. This helps students connect theoretical concepts with real-world civil engineering applications. Overall, the faculty plays an important role in building a strong academic foundation and guiding students toward higher studies or industry careers.
Placements: Placements at SRM Institute of Science and Technology are fairly good, especially for students who actively prepare and build their technical skills during the course. The university has a dedicated placement cell that regularly conducts aptitude training, soft-skill sessions, and mock interviews to help students get ready for recruitment drives. For Civil Engineering students, several construction and infrastructure companies visit the campus offering roles such as site engineer, project coordinator, and trainee engineer. Many students also secure internships during their course, which helps them gain industry exposure and improve their chances during placements. Although core civil engineering placements can sometimes be competitive, students who maintain good academic performance and gain practical experience generally find good opportunities. Overall, the placement support and training provided by the university help students transition from academics to professional careers.

Start Up Incubator: I recently graduated from SRM University Delhi-NCR Sonepat and the university does provide good support for students interested in startups. Through the Center of Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE), students get opportunities to work on their own ideas and learn about building a startup. During my time in college, the university organized workshops, startup talks, and mentoring sessions where students could learn from experienced professionals. It helped many students understand how to turn their ideas into real projects. Overall, it is a good initiative for students who want to explore entrepreneurship and gain practical exposure along with their studies.
