WBUT PGET 2026 (WEST BENGAL UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY POST GRADUATE ENTRANCE EXAMINATION)

The West Bengal University of Technology Post Graduate Entrance Test (WBUT PGET or MAKAUT PGET) 2026 is a state-level computer-based examination conducted by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), formerly WBUT, for admissions to M.Tech and M.Pharm programs across its affiliated colleges and institutions in West Bengal.

Targeted at engineering, technology, and pharmacy graduates, including final-year students and GATE/GPAT qualifiers, the exam assesses candidates through three key sections: General Aptitude (20 marks, covering logical reasoning, puzzles, coding-decoding, and quantitative skills), Mathematics & Basic Sciences (30 marks, including linear algebra, calculus, probability, differential equations, and physics/chemistry fundamentals), and Subject-Specific topics (50 marks, branch-wise like VLSI for ECE, software engineering for CSE, or pharmaceutics for M.Pharm). The online CBT lasts 60-90 minutes with 100 MCQs totaling 100 marks, featuring +1 for correct answers and no negative marking, conducted once annually in English medium.

Tentative timelines include application forms opening in early June 2026 (fee Rs 600 General/ Rs 300 reserved), exam in mid-July, results by late July, and counseling in August via pget.examflix.in, where merit combines PGET scores (80% weight for non-GATE) with academics or GATE (70:30 split). Eligibility mandates a relevant B.E./B.Tech/B.Pharm/B.Arch or M.Sc. from AICTE/PCI-approved institutes, with sponsored candidates needing employer certification and one-year experience.

The application process involves online registration, document uploads (photo/signature), and fee payment, followed by admit card download. Post-results, online counseling features choice filling, seat allotment by rank/category, and physical reporting for verification with originals like mark sheets and category proofs. Preparation emphasizes GATE-level practice for core subjects, mock tests for aptitude, and previous PGET papers, as the syllabus mirrors undergraduate curricula without major changes year-over-year. No official 2026 brochure exists yet (as of December 2025), but patterns remain stable from 2025.

In conclusion, WBUT PGET 2026 offers a straightforward gateway for postgraduate technical education in West Bengal, favoring consistent performers in domain knowledge over rote learning, with ample opportunities via multiple counseling rounds and GATE integration; aspirants should monitor makautwb.ac.in and pget.examflix.in from May 2026 for precise updates to strategize effectively and secure preferred seats.
