AMET ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA 2026

The Academy of Maritime Education and Training (AMET) 2026 eligibility criteria outline the essential academic, age, and health requirements that candidates must meet to apply for undergraduate and postgraduate programs in maritime education. AMET, a premier maritime institution located in Chennai, India, offers courses such as B.E. Marine Engineering, B.Sc. Nautical Science, Diploma in Nautical Science, and other specialized programs, which require a strong foundation in science and mathematics as well as overall physical fitness.

For undergraduate programs, candidates must have completed 10+2 or equivalent examinations with a focus on Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) from a recognized board. They must meet the minimum aggregate marks specified by AMET, ensuring that students possess the academic aptitude necessary for rigorous maritime training. Age limits are also prescribed; typically, candidates should be within 17 to 25 years at the time of admission.

In addition to academic qualifications, medical and physical fitness is mandatory, in line with Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) standards, as maritime courses demand good eyesight, hearing, and overall health for safe shipboard training. Candidates are also required to be free from chronic illnesses and meet certain height and weight standards.

By adhering to these eligibility requirements, AMET ensures that all admitted candidates are well-prepared to undertake the challenging curriculum and practical maritime training essential for a professional career at sea.
