The Academy of Maritime Education and Training (AMET) Entrance Exam 2026 follows a structured exam pattern designed to assess the academic knowledge, communication skills, and reasoning ability of candidates aspiring to join maritime programmes such as B.E. Marine Engineering, B.Sc. Nautical Science, and Diploma in Nautical Science.
The exam is conducted in an online (computer-based) mode, and the question paper is divided into multiple sections covering Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English, and Logical/Analytical Reasoning. All questions are objective type (Multiple Choice Questions – MCQs) with four options, out of which only one is correct. The difficulty level of the paper is moderate and is largely based on the Class 11th & 12th NCERT syllabus for science and mathematics, while English and Aptitude questions follow a general competitive exam pattern.
The exam is usually of 2 to 3 hours duration, consisting of about 100 to 150 questions in total. Each correct answer carries marks, while there may or may not be negative marking (depending on AMET’s final guidelines for 2026). The medium of the exam is English only.
The exam pattern ensures a balanced evaluation — while Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry test academic strength, the English and Aptitude sections evaluate communication and logical thinking, both of which are vital for a successful maritime career.
