To apply for the Bharath Engineering Entrance Examination (BEEE) conducted by Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research (BIHER), candidates must meet specific academic, age, and nationality requirements.
Criteria
Detail
Applicants are generally expected to be Indian nationals. Some sources also allow NRI / foreign candidates under special categories.
Must have passed (or be appearing for) the 10+2 / Higher Secondary / Senior Secondary or its equivalent from a recognized board.
Subjects / Stream
For B.Tech / engineering: must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) in 10+2. For bio / biotechnology / biomedical engineering courses, having Biology in place of Mathematics is acceptable in many cases (i.e., Physics + Chemistry + Biology) for those specialisations.
Usually 50% aggregate in the relevant subjects (PCM or PCB) in the qualifying examination (10+2).
In previous years, candidates should not have completed 25 years of age (i.e. < 25 years) as on 1st July of the year of admission.
Lateral Entry
For those seeking lateral entry (i.e. entering directly into the second year): A recognized diploma (in engineering or related field) with minimum required percentage (often 50%). Or a B.Sc. degree with Mathematics (or equivalent) in many cases.
If applying for B.Arch (Architecture): Must have passed 10+2 (or equivalent) with Mathematics + English as subjects, with the required minimum aggregate. Or have a 10+3 diploma (any stream) recognized by State/Central Government, with the required percentage. Also, passing NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) is typically required.
Q1. Is there a minimum percentage requirement in 10+2?
Ans. Yes, Generally, you need a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (or Physics, Chemistry, and Biology for bio-streams) in the qualifying exam.
Q2. Is there an age limit for appearing in BEEE?
Ans. Yes, you should not exceed 25 years of age (i.e. under 25) as on 1st July of the admission year.
Q3. Can students currently in Class 12 / “appearing” apply?
Ans. Yes — students who are appearing in the 10+2 / equivalent exam can also apply (on a provisional basis) provided they fulfill the eligibility later.
Q4. What if I don’t have Mathematics in 10+2, but want to do engineering?
Ans. You generally must have Mathematics (for most engineering branches). However, for bio / biotechnology / related courses, Biology may be accepted instead of Mathematics.
Q5. Can diploma holders apply for lateral entry?
Ans. Yes, candidates with a Diploma recognized by the Central/State Government or a B.Sc. with Mathematics can apply for B.Tech Lateral Entry, provided they have 50% aggregate marks.
