The HP TET 2026 eligibility criteria specify the qualifications and requirements candidates must meet to appear for the Himachal Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test. The eligibility varies according to the level of teaching and the specific paper applied for. Below is a detailed breakdown:

  1. Eligibility for Junior Basic Training (JBT) Teacher (Classes 1 to 5) – Paper 1

Educational Qualification:

Candidates must have completed a 2-year Junior Basic Training (JBT) / Diploma in Elementary Education / 4-year B.El.Ed or any equivalent teacher education program recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).

Minimum Marks:

Must have passed with at least 50% marks.

Additional Requirements:

Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree and B.Ed. (Diploma in Education) are also eligible.

  1. Eligibility for Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) – Arts (Classes 6 to 8) – Paper 2

Educational Qualification:

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree with relevant arts subjects along with a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree.

Subjects Required:

Must have studied the relevant subject(s) as part of their graduation.

Minimum Marks:

At least 50% aggregate marks in Bachelor’s and B.Ed. course combined.

  1. Eligibility for Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) – Non-Medical / Medical – Paper 3 and Paper 4

Non-Medical (Paper 3):

Bachelor’s degree with Mathematics and Physics as main or elective subjects, along with a B.Ed. degree in the corresponding subject.

Medical (Paper 4):

Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related life sciences with B.Ed. qualification.

Minimum Marks:

Minimum 50% aggregate marks in graduation and B.Ed. combined.

  1. Eligibility for Language Teachers (Shastri, Punjabi, Urdu)

Educational Qualification:

Candidates must hold a relevant degree or diploma in the respective language along with teaching qualifications as prescribed by HPBOSE.

Additional Criteria:

Proficiency in the language and knowledge of educational pedagogy is essential.

General Eligibility Requirements:
