The SET 2026 eligibility criteria established by Symbiosis International (Deemed University) encompass academic qualifications, age requirements, category-based reservations, and specific guidelines for international and program-specific applicants. Below are the detailed eligibility conditions:

  • Educational Qualification: You must have completed Class 12 or an equivalent exam from a recognized board or university.
    • Candidates who are appearing for Class 12 in 2026 or waiting for their results are also eligible to apply provisionally, but must produce a passing certificate at the time of admission.
  • Minimum Marks Required
    • For General category: At least 50% aggregate marks in Class 12 or equivalent examination.
    • For SC/ST candidates: At least 45% aggregate marks in Class 12 or equivalent examination.
  • Age Limit
    • There is no upper age limit for applying to the SET exam.
    • The minimum age should be 17 years at the time of the exam
  • Foreign Nationals:Candidates who have completed Class 12 or equivalent from a foreign board must present an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
  • Category Reservations: Symbiosis provides reservations as per UGC guidelines:
    • Scheduled Caste (SC): 15%
    • Scheduled Tribe (ST): 7.5%
    • Differently-abled: 3%
    • Armed Forces Dependents (SLS Pune, SICSR): 5%
    • Kashmiri Migrants: 2 seats over and above
    • International students: 20% seats

Ques.1 Is there an age limit for the SET exam?

Ans. There is no upper age limit for the SET exam. Minimum age is generally 17 years at the time of admission; always check specific program requirements.

Ques.2 Who can apply for the SET exam?

Ans. Candidates who have passed Class 12 (10+2) or its equivalent from a recognised board with at least 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST category) can apply. Candidates awaiting their Class 12 results or appearing in Class 12 in 2026 are eligible to apply provisionally. Candidates from foreign boards must produce an AIU equivalence certificate.

Ques.3 Is there any marks relaxation for reserved category students?

Ans. Yes, students belonging to SC/ST categories get a 5% relaxation in required Class 12 marks (only 45% aggregate required).

Ques.4 Can NIOS students apply for SET 2026?

Ans. Yes, candidates from the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) or equivalent recognized boards are eligible.
