The Telangana Lateral Entry into Polytechnic Common Entrance Test (TG LPCET) 2026 is a specialized entrance exam conducted by the State Board of Technical Education and Training (SBTET), Telangana, for ITI certificate holders seeking direct admission into the second year of diploma (polytechnic) courses in engineering and non-engineering streams. Understanding the eligibility criteria is crucial for prospective applicants to ensure they meet all requirements before applying.

 

  1.  Nationality

  • The candidate must be an Indian citizen.
  1.  Domicile/Local Status

  • The applicant must satisfy the local/non-local status requirements as per Telangana State educational regulations. This ensures that candidates are either residents of Telangana or meet the stipulated criteria for non-local status.
  1.  Educational Qualification

  • ITI Qualification:
    • Candidates must have successfully completed a 2-year ITI (Industrial Training Institute) course from a recognized institute.
    • The minimum required aggregate is 60% marks in the ITI course.
  • Bridge Course:
    • In addition to the ITI qualification, applicants must have passed the Bridge Course Examination conducted by SBTET Telangana.
    • The bridge course must cover Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry as subjects.
  1.  Age Limit

  • There is no upper or lower age limit specified for appearing in TG LPCET 2026. This makes the exam accessible to a wide range of ITI graduates, regardless of age.
  1. Other Requirements

  • Document Verification:
    • Candidates must be able to produce all necessary documents (such as ITI certificates, bridge course marks memo, domicile proof, and other relevant certificates) at the time of application and counseling.
  • Reservation:
    • Reservation policies as per Telangana state government guidelines will be applicable for SC, ST, OBC, and other categories.

Who is Not Eligible?

  • Candidates who have not completed a full 2-year ITI program or have scored less than 60% marks are not eligible.
  • Those who have not passed the required bridge course in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry are also ineligible for the exam.
