TELANGANA LANGUAGE PANDIT COMMON ENTRANCE TEST 2026 ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The Telangana Language Pandit Common Entrance Test (TS LPCET) 2026 is conducted for admission into the one-year Language Pandit Training (LPT) course in Telugu, Hindi, and Urdu at government and private institutions. Before applying, candidates must carefully check the eligibility requirements.

  1. Nationality & Domicile

  • The candidate must be an Indian citizen.
  • Must satisfy the local/non-local status requirements as laid down in the Telangana State Educational Institutions Order.
  • Preference is given to local candidates of Telangana.
  • Candidates from Andhra Pradesh may also be eligible under certain conditions.
  1. Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: Candidates must have completed 19 years as of 1st July 2026.
  • Upper Age Limit: No upper age limit is prescribed.
  1. Educational Qualifications

Candidates must meet course-specific eligibility criteria based on the language Pandit stream they are applying for:

  1. Telugu Pandit Course (TPT)
  • Must have completed a Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) with Telugu as one of the optional subjects, OR
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Oriental Language (B.O.L.) in Telugu, OR
  • Any other equivalent qualification recognized by the Government of Telangana.
  1. Hindi Pandit Course (HPT)
  • Must have completed one of the following:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Hindi Literature from a recognized university, OR
    • Praveena / Visharada examination of Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha or equivalent, OR
    • B.A. in Hindi as an optional subject, OR
    • Other qualifications recognized as equivalent by the Government of Telangana.
  1. Urdu Pandit Course (UPT)
  • Must have completed a Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) with Urdu as an optional subject, OR
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Oriental Language (B.O.L.) in Urdu, OR
  • Any equivalent qualification approved by the Government of Telangana.
  1. Minimum Qualifying Marks

  • General / OBC candidates: Minimum 50% marks in the qualifying examination.
  • SC / ST / PH candidates: Minimum 45% marks in the qualifying examination.
  • Candidates awaiting final-year degree results can also apply, but they must submit proof of qualification during counseling.
  1. Number of Attempts

  • There is no restriction on the number of attempts for TS LPCET 2026.
  • Candidates can appear as many times as they wish, provided they meet the age and educational criteria.
  1. Physical Fitness

  • Candidates must be physically fit.
  • Some institutions may require a medical fitness certificate during admission.
  1. Reservation Policy

Reservations apply as per the Telangana State Government norms:

  • SC, ST, OBC, EWS categories receive seat reservations.
  • Physically Handicapped candidates may also have relaxation in eligibility.

Ques.1 What is the minimum educational qualification required for TS LPCET 2026?

Ans. Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree or B.O.L. in the relevant language they are applying for:

  • Telugu Pandit (TPT): B.A. with Telugu as an optional subject / B.O.L. in Telugu.
  • Hindi Pandit (HPT): B.A. with Hindi as an optional subject / Visharada / Praveena or equivalent.
  • Urdu Pandit (UPT): B.A. with Urdu as an optional subject / B.O.L. in Urdu.

Ques.2 Can final-year degree students apply for TS LPCET 2026?

Ans. Yes, Final-year degree students are eligible to apply. However, they must provide their mark sheets or provisional certificates during the counseling process 

Ques.3 Is there any relaxation in qualifying marks for reserved category candidates?

Ans. Yes,

  • General / OBC candidates: Minimum 50% marks in the qualifying exam.
  • SC / ST / PH candidates: Minimum 45% marks in the qualifying exam.

Ques.4 Can I apply for more than one language Pandit course?

Ans. No, Candidates are allowed to apply for only one language stream — Telugu, Hindi, or Urdu — in a single attempt.

Ques.5 Is there any upper age limit for applying to TS LPCET 2026?

Ans. No, there is no upper age limit for applicants.
