The Ministry of Human Resource Development released its ranking of National institutes for 2024.The overall ranking list by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) included institutes like - Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore IIT Madras, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur and IIT Roorkee. The universities that made it to the overall top 10 list included - Jawaharlal Nehru University, Banaras Hindu University (Varanasi) and Anna University (Chennai)
The rankings, according to the report were released under nine categories: Overall, universities, engineering, colleges, management, pharmacy, medical, architecture, and law.
The NIRF also added several new criteria such as total budget and its utilisation, combined metric for quality of publications, university examinations and how many graduating students admitted into top institutions.
