The institution is a Government aided and affiliated to Dr. Rammanohar Lohia Avadh, University, Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. The college was established in 1960 with a motive to provide value based higher education by character building and preparing good citizens for the national development. The college is a premier institution of this area and attracts students from other district also. At present there are about ten thousand students enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate level for various courses in faculty of Arts, Science, Commerce, Teacher Education (B.Ed.), Professional Courses and IGNOU. The college was recognized by UGC under 2(F) and 12(B) and College also Accredited by the NAAC with Grade ‘A’.

The College has an infrastructure for meeting its different needs. The infrastructure is being maintained well. Well-equipped labs in different streams, smart class room, rich library, well maintained reading room, conference hall, anti-ragging cell, green campus, indoor and outdoor game facilities, girls and boys hostel etc. are some basic educational facilities are available in the college. To fulfil the safety needs, the campus is CCTV enabled. Apart from teaching, research and evaluation, the college has N.C.C. (Boys and Girls Unit), N.S.S. and Rovers & Rangers activities to provide diversity in extra-curricular programmes.

The college is proud of notable alumni, who have distinguished themselves in different fields of academics, corporate and administration. The college is committed to continuous improvement in its performance to the highest satisfaction of the students.
