Berhampur University

Berhampur University is a public teaching-cum-affiliating university located in Brahmapur, Odisha, India. It was established on 2 January 1967 by the Government of Odisha and is named after the great poet of Odisha, Kabisamrat Upendra Bhanja. The university offers postgraduate courses in three departments: science, humanities, and business studies, including regular programs, self-financing programs, and diploma courses. It also offers 28 undergraduate and postgraduate courses through its constituent colleges and in distance education mode through its Harihar Mardaraj Distance Education Centre. In October 2021, Khallikote University merged with, and the syndicate of the university created four new P.G. departments in Biotechnology, Library & Information Science, Tourism & Travel Studies and Environment Studies.

Berhampur University is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with an "A" grade. It has jurisdiction over three districts: Gajapati, Ganjam, and Kandhamal. The university offers a wide range of courses and has been recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Berhampur University boasts a comprehensive range of infrastructure facilities to support its students and enhance their learning experience. The campus features various amenities and services aimed at providing a conducive environment for academic and personal growth. Some of the key infrastructure facilities at Berhampur University include-

Canteen- In 1980, a central canteen for students was established, with a capacity of roughly fifty. Private companies that have received university permission are in charge of it. It functions every day of the week. It serves snacks and both vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals.

Open-air theatre- To encourage cultural activities on campus, the university has a Cultural Committee led by a Coordinator. Encouraging gifted students to take part in local, regional, and national cultural events is a major responsibility of the Cultural Committee.

Hostel- The 1967 founding of Berhampur University is dedicated to giving students first-rate living quarters, a strong security system, and a positive academic environment. There are eight hostels for boys (one is under construction) and nine hostels for girls (one is under construction) in the university's housing system. The hostels are roomy, with nicely furnished rooms and a separate common area for females and boys that serves inexpensive, hygienic food. Along with round-the-clock security, hostels offer recreational amenities like DTH-connected TVs, indoor and outdoor activities, a gym, study spaces with daily newspapers and magazines, Wi-Fi, and drinking water that has been cleaned (Aqua-guard).
